HCCC is still open and continues to provide counseling services. The providers are honored to be able to help the community, especially in this time of uncertainty and stress. We are engaging in increased cleaning between every client and practicing social distancing with the staff and clients. However, there are many individuals who may not be able to come to the clinic due to childcare responsibilities, illness or preference to self-quarantine. Therefore, we have explored technological solutions and will be offering telehealth capability depending on the client’s needs and desires.
These are trying times filled with unprecedented uncertainty for most of us. Together with the faithfulness of God and the presence of His Spirit, we will come through this intact. We will definitely be changed by the experience and I hope that one difference is becoming closer to our Savior and each other. When feeling overwhelmed and caught up in the news of the moment, we recommend several healthy strategies.
– Practice love and hope. Love and hope are action verbs that are far beyond simple wishing or even mindsets. Act in ways that show love and hope or optimism. Just as panic and anxiety are contagious, so too are positive emotions.
– Find 1 thing each day that encourages and refreshes you.
Take care of your basic needs: eat healthy, sleep enough, and stay active.
– Lean into God’s word and your relationship with Him. He wants to be known, but we may have to slow down and listen closely to hear Him.
– Accept or acknowledge the uncertainty around you and your feelings in response to the situation. Struggling, fighting or avoiding your feelings will exhaust you and won’t prevent them from coming back later. Allow your feelings to be what they are without judging yourself, notice them, breathe and remember that whatever you are feeling is temporary and will pass. Let go of the struggle so you can focus on responding in the best possible way as soon as you can.
